From March 2024 to March 2025, nonfarm payroll employment increased in 13 states and was essentially unchanged in 37 states and the District of Columbia.

The largest percentage increases occurred in Idaho (2.6 percent), South Carolina (2.4 percent), and Utah (1.9 percent). Employment in Hawaii increased 1.8 percent over the year. Job gains in these states ranged from 11,800 in Hawaii to 55,400 in South Carolina.
The largest job gains occurred in Texas (192,100; 1.4 percent), Florida (135,000; 1.4 percent), and New York (126,200; 1.3 percent).
